Dynamics NAV 2013 R2 - Copy Company

Copy Company is a new feature introduced in Dynamics NAV 2013 R2. Copy Company feature allows user to duplicate existing company to a new company effortlessly. For example, I can use the copy company function to duplicate Cronus International Ltd to Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
1)      Go to Departments à Administration à IT Administration à General à Companies from RTC.
2)      Select the company that I want to duplicate, e.g., Cronus International Ltd.
3)      Click Copy button.
4)      Enter the new company name, e.g., Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
5)      Click OK.

Prior to NAV 2013 R2, if I want to duplicate Cronus International Ltd to Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd, I will first backup Cronus International Ltd to a .fbk file and then rename the existing Cronus International Ltd to Cronus Malaysia Sdn Bhd. After the rename complete, then I will restore Cronus International Ltd to the same database.

The Copy Company function in NAV 2013 R2 is obviously much simpler and easier than then backup, rename and restore process.

F6 is the shortcut key in NAV Classic client to open a Lookup Form for user to select a value from a list. This is one of the most frequently used shortcut key in Classic client.

If you try to press F6 on any lookup field in RTC, the Lookup Form will not appear. In RTC, the F6 has been replaced by F4.

CTRL + F8 (Zoom function) in RTC Pages

CTRL + F8 zoom function is a very useful feature in classic client for user to view the value in each and every field in a form.

However, if you try to press CTRL + F8 to zoom in RTC (NAV 2009 and NAV 2013), the system will not response to this combination of shortcut key. The Zoom function in Classic Client has been replaced by About This Page feature in RTC. The following screen shot shows how to access the About This Page in NAV 2013
