Save a Filtered View

Let's walkthrough this feature with an example:

1) Open the Customer list.
2) Filter the list to show only customer with currency code <> ''.
3) Expand the Advanced Filter menu
4) Click on Customer --> Save View As.

5) At the Name field, enter Foreign. Click OK to save the view.
6) Restart NAV RTC Client.
7) The Foreign view is added to the Navigation Pane under the Customer.

F6 lookup in Classic client replaced by F4 in RTC

F6 is the shortcut key in NAV Classic client to open a Lookup Form for user to select a value from a list. This is one of the most frequently used shortcut key in Classic client.

If you try to press F6 on any lookup field in RTC, the Lookup Form will not appear. In RTC, the F6 has been replaced by F4.

Show and Hide Ribbon

Ribbon is a command bar that organizes important features into tab and button at the top portion of the screen, which was introduced in NAV 2009's Role Tailored Client (RTC). It is now available in both NAV 2009 and NAV 2013 RTC.

Ribbon make the important features more discoverable and easier to access. This has makes NAV more user friendly and easier to learn. However, the Ribbon takes up a significant amount of screen space, which in effect will reduce the working space on the screen.

Luckily, NAV has the option for users to show or hide the Ribbon. When you need more working space, simply press CTRL + F1 to hide the Ribbon. When you need to Ribbon again, simply press CTRL + F1 again to bring back the Ribbon.

CTRL + F8 (Zoom function) in RTC Pages

CTRL + F8 zoom function is a very useful feature in classic client for user to view the value in each and every field in a form.

However, if you try to press CTRL + F8 to zoom in RTC (NAV 2009 and NAV 2013), the system will not response to this combination of shortcut key. The Zoom function in Classic Client has been replaced by About This Page feature in RTC. The following screen shot shows how to access the About This Page in NAV 2013
